Showtime is set to tell us the stories of America’s first ladies in a new anthology series that has already attached Viola Davis to star.
Davis will also executive produce First Ladies, which is currently in development with an order for three scripts at Showtime. The series will focus on the personal and political lives of the country’s first ladies, with season one said to focus on Eleanor Roosevelt, Betty Ford & Michelle Obama. Davis has been tapped to take on the task of playing Michelle Obama on the series.
Davis, along with her husband Julius Tennon, run JuVee Productions and this is yet another project on their growing development slate. The production company has a first-look deal with Amazon, which has Fast Color in development there as well as Wild Seed and The Asphalt Kiss.
