Venom Officially Rated PG-13 By The MPAA

That sound you hear is the sound of fanboys everywhere collectively crying about Venom being officially rated PG-13 by the MPAA.

Tickets for Venom are now on sale, and in order for that sale to take place, the movie’s official rating and runtime had to be revealed. So far (at the time of writing this), AMC Theaters has been the one to confirm the PG-13 rating and runtime of 1 hour and 52 minutes.

About a month ago, it was reported that Sony was leaning toward a PG-13 rating for Venom, mainly because the studio was worried that an R-rated version of the character would greatly hinder the movie franchise’s potential of one day being able to crossover with other prominent Marvel movie properties — be it Tom Holland’s Spider-Man movie franchise, or the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As was reported yesterday, the film entered box office tracking with a suggested opening between $60-75M, which could mean the PG-13 rating was the right idea.
