Prepare to keep crying for at least 2 more years. NBC has renewed This Is Us for season two and three.
The network made the announcement at the Television Critics’ Association winter press tour presentation yesterday. The two new seasons will consist of 18 episodes each and while the renewal is no surprise, the double renewal could indicate that the creators of the show pitched the network a long term idea for the show that they were really into.
The show ranks as the top new network series of the season and sealed off its year with three Golden Globe nominations, including best drama, the first for NBC in 10 years. The show is not only a critical achievement but a true hit by network standards as well. It’s averaging a 2.6 in the highly coveted 18-49 demo and 9.56 million total viewers. The show usually adds on another 2.0 in the demo and 5 million viewers once viewing within seven days is counted.
