Universal Received A ‘Firm No’ For A Potential Jaws Reboot

As the dog days of summer have arrived, the summer blockbuster season is hitting full throttle. None of that would be possible without the release of 1975’s immortal classic, Jaws. The film is considered one of Steven Spielberg’s best films and spawned three sequels.

While there a sequel to the original films, there has yet to be a modern reboot, however, that does not mean that Universal Pictures hasn’t tried. It has been revealed that the studio was interested in a Jaws reboot at one point but Steven Spielberg made it very clear that the idea was, as they say, dead in the water.

In the recent report that Netflix had struck a deal with the acclaimed director, there was a report that Universal brought the subject to reboot Spielberg’s breakout classic, with Spielberg producing.

” The answer was swift and said to be a “firm no.”

While there is no clear date as to when this pitch was given it’s said that

“this was already known and not a recent conversation.”

In a world where reboots are the norm, it’s great to see that classics like Jaws remain untouched.
