Tiffany Haddish’s Kids Say The Darndest Things Moves From ABC To CBS

It appeared that the Tiffany Haddish-hosted Kids Say the Darndest Things was going to be one and done after ABC canceled it but the show is about to get a second life. It has been announced that the show is set to resume later this season after more than a year off the air at its new home on CBS.

The pickup comes some seven months after ABC canceled the show following its 2019-20 run. It last aired in January. The move is actually a bit of a homecoming as CBS was the original home for the first run of the series as part of Art Linkletter’s radio show in the 1940s and it was a regular part of his TV variety series that aired from 1952-69. CBS also previously aired a version of the show from 1998-2000, hosted by Bill Cosby. Mitch Graham, senior VP alternative programming for CBS. had this to say about bringing the show back to the network:

“Few things have more universal appeal and humor than the unfiltered honesty of a child, and the comedic genius of Tiffany Haddish takes that to the next level. It’s great to have Kid Say back on CBS and part of our expanding alternative slate for 2021.”

Tiffany Haddish added:

“I see my role as giving kids a safe environment where they can say anything they want with complete freedom and no judgment. What I love about this show is that we let kids truly be themselves. I’m the straight man here, and that’s fine with me.”

Haddish is coming off The Last O.G. at TBS, which she departed after three seasons, and is currently working on Apple’s The Afterparty, from Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and the feature The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent opposite Nicolas Cage.
