The Thing Reboot in Early Development With Blumhouse And John Carpenter

The Thing From Another World is making a return!

Blumhouse and director John Carpenter are developing a reboot of Carpenter’s 1982 horror classic The Thing, first confirmed by Variety. The project is still in the early stages, and no other details have been released.

Carpenter first revealed the news on Saturday on a panel for the Fantasia International Film Festival where he discussed finishing the score to Halloween Kills.

During the Q&A, Carpenter was asked if he had talked with Blumhouse chief Jason Blum about directing any projects himself. Carpenter stated, “I have? I don’t know about that. But we’ve talked about — I think he’s going to be working on ‘The Thing,’ rebooting ‘The Thing.’ I’m involved with that, maybe. Down the road.”
