Afton Williamson will not go quietly into that good night. After announcing she would not be returning for the second season of The Rookie amid accusations of racism and sexual misconduct on set, the actress is now naming names of the individuals that allegedly perpetrated said acts.
In a Monday evening Instagram post, the actress thanked her fans and friends for their support, and she reiterated her claim that she quit the series because of “sexual harassment” and “racial discrimination.” She then went on to name the people in question towards the end of the post. The Instagram post can be viewed below but I will not be naming the people in question since we have not independently verified Williamson’s claims:
Willamson made headlines on Sunday when she announced her surprise exit in the following Instagram post that made it clear she allegedly suffered systematic racism and sexual misconduct on set:
During ABC’s TCA executive session Monday, the network’s entertainment president, Karey Burke, was asked to comment on Williamson’s allegations. Burke seemed to now have been aware of the situation until late in the game:
“I am frustrated, I don’t have a lot of answers; I wish I had more. I heard at the end of June that there were allegations, and an investigation has been launched. We are waiting for answers… As soon as we learn more, we will make determination based on what’s found.”
The Rookie also stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, and Eric Winter. The series was created by Alexi Hawley, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. According to Williamson, she brought her concerns to Hawley but she found that her claim went undocumented, according to the actress. As of now, none of her fellow co-stars have spoken up with their opinion about the allegations.
