American Idol Sees Six Week High From Live Show On Sunday

American Idol went live coast to coast on Sunday and it proved to be ratings gold for ABC.

The singing competition hit a 1.9 in adults 18-49, its second-best rating of the season, and 8.7 million viewers. This is its best showing since March 18 and continues a trend of the show showing significant gains. Deception (0.8, +0.2, 3.70 million viewers) also saw week to week gains for the ABC.

On FOX, Brooklyn Nine-Nine (0.9, 1.96 million viewers), Family Guy (1.0, 2.28 million viewers) and The Last Man on Earth (0.7, 1.80 million viewers) all rose a tenth week to week. Bob’s Burgers (0.8, 1.89 million viewers) and The Simpsons (0.9, 2.42 million viewers) both held steady for the network week to week.

On CBS, Instinct (0.6, 7.04 million viewers) and Madam Secretary (0.6, 5.99 million viewers) were steady week to week while NCIS: Los Angeles (0.7, 7.48 million viewers) dipped a tenth.

On NBC, Timeless rose a tenth week to week to a 0.6 demo rating and 2.62 million viewers.
