The Predator Tracking For $30 Million Opening Weekend

The Predator is ready to invade on September 14 and according to box office tracking released Thursday, it should have a decent opening.

Tracking has the film debuting between $25-30 million during its opening weekend. That’s not too bad considering the franchise has never really been known for huge openings. The hope is that director Shane Black’s take on the titular character will set up a new franchise. The cast includes Sterling K. Brown, Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, & Jake Busey.

Tracking has been known to change as we get closer to the release date and with marketing efforts surging in the next few weeks, these tracking numbers could possibly increase. A Simple Favor, also releasing that weekend, is tracking in the $12-16 million range but is also expecting to surge as marketing has shifted into high gear. Both films face competition from the second weekend of The Nun which is expected to open on September 7 with about $32-40 million.
