The Neighborhood Has Solid Debut On CBS While Manifest Strong In Week Two

CBS needed some good news this week after their premiere week got off to a so-so start and it looks like they got just that with the premiere of The Neighborhood.

The Neighborhood delivered a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49 and 8.07 million viewers; it ties with FBI and God Friended Me as CBS’ best series debuts of the fall in the 18-49 demo. The show also tied Kevin Can Wait‘s best 8 p.m. performance in 2017-18. This might sound like faint good news but other than The Big Bang Theory and to a lesser extent, Young Sheldon and Mom, CBS has had some ratings issues launching comedies so this has to been seen as a good start, especially if it can stay around these numbers.

The news got a bit more dire for them following The Neighborhood with the premiere of Happy Together which didn’t start as well out of the gate. The premiere scored a 1.0 demo rating and 5.93 million viewers and it lost 23 percent of its lead-in’s 18-49 rating and almost 27 percent of The Neighborhood‘s total audience — and those viewers, for the most part, didn’t return later in the night but it affected the numbers for Magnum P.I. which may have cause to worry now as it dropped 3 tenths from its premiere to a 0.9 demo rating and 7.33 million viewers. Bull ended the night for CBS, down a tenth from a week ago to a 0.8 demo rating and 6.64 million viewers.

Over on NBC, Manifest did dip from its premiere but it was still the top scripted show of the night. The series hit a 1.8 demo rating and 8.48 million viewers, down from the 2.2 demo rating of its premiere but still a strong showing for a drama at 10  PM on Monday night. It was only down 2 tenths from its lead-in, The Voice, which maintained its 2.0 demo rating from last week and 9.94 million viewers.

Fox had another good Monday this week despite each of their shows slipping a tenth week to week. They ranked second for  Monday night in the demo average, with The Resident hitting a 1.0 demo score and 4.82 million viewers while 9-1-1 registered a 1.5 demo rating and 6.09 million viewers.

On ABC, Dancing With the Stars (0.9, 7.32 million viewers) and The Good Doctor (1.2, 7.50 million viewers) also dipped a tenth apiece, pending updates for a Monday Night Football preemption in Kansas City. While The Good Doctor is down, it’s still outrating its lead-in and it’s a huge DVR performer so it’s still in a healthy spot.
