The Lighthouse & Uncut Gems Lead Independent Spirit Award Nominations

Award season kicks into high gear with the announcement of the nominations for The Film Independent Spirit Awards. Joker actress Zazie Beetz and Ad Astra and Honey Boy actress Natasha Lyonne announced the nominations today in Los Angeles.

A24 dominated today with a total of 18 nominations, with two of its films, Uncut Gems and The Lighthouse earning a leading five nominations each. Uncut Gems is nominated for the top prize of best feature, along with best director, best editing, best male lead (Adam Sandler) & best screenplay. The Lighthouse earns nominations for its two performers, Robert Pattinson & Willem Dafoe, as well as best cinematography, best director and best editing.

Also in the best feature category is A Hidden Life, Clemency, The Farewell & Marriage Story. Honey Boy and Hustlers also makes an impression with the former scoring two nominations for director and best-supporting actor (Shia Labeouf while the latter scores three nominations for best director, cinematography and best supporting actress (Jennifer Lopez).

The 35th Annual Film Independent Spirit Awards will be held on February 8, 2020, and will air on IFC. Check out the full list of nominees below.
