The Kelly Clarkson Show Earns Season 2 Renewal At NBCUniversal

The Kelly Clarkson show became a hit right out of the gate it comes as no surprise that it’s the first freshman syndicated series to get a Season 2 pickup. NBCUniversal, which produces and distributes the hit talk show, airs in 100% of the country on more than 200 stations, with the NBC O&Os as the core station group.

In a climate that sometimes isn’t kind to new daytime talk shows, The Kelly Clarkson Show has proven to buck that downward trend with some impressive numbers. The show, which premiered September 9, had the strongest start to any new first-run strip in seven years with an average of 1.9 million viewers per episode. The show is in fourth place among all syndicated daytime talk shows, many of which have been on the air for well over a decade. The show is also the number one new syndicated show of the 2019-20 season. In digital, the show’s social platforms have gained more than 1.5 million subscribers since September. Tracie Wilson, EVP, Creative Affairs, NBCUniversal Television Distribution, has this to say about the renewal:

The Kelly Clarkson Show is connecting with viewers in a unique way and we are so happy to build on that momentum, bringing Kelly’s brand of humor, heart, and, of course, the incredible ‘Kellyoke,’ to stations for a second season.  It is a privilege to be in business with Kelly and our production team, led by Alex Duda, who have a clear creative vision and a talent for storytelling and creating quality entertainment that invites you in for a good time and leaves you feeling happy.”

The Kelly Clarkson Show leads a freshman class of syndicated offerings that also includes Disney’s Tamron Hall; court show, Judge Jerry, starring Jerry Springer; Sony Pictures TV’s talker Mel Robbins; and Fox’s game show 25 Words or Less, hosted by Meredith Vieira.
