The consistent ratings performance for The Resident has earned it a full 22 episode second season after beginning as a mid-season replacement earlier this year.
The ratings in its first three weeks have averaged a 1.0 rating in the adults 18-49 demographic and 4.89 million viewers in live plus same-day numbers. That’s a little ahead of the 0.9 and 4.23 million the show averaged on Mondays last season and on par with its 2017-18 averages.
After a week of delayed viewing, the September 24 season premiere grew to 1.7 in adults 18-49 (a 55 percent boost) and 7.44 million viewers (up 59 percent). Fox says the premiere had 8.9 million viewers across all platforms.
The Resident stars Matt Czuchry, Bruce Greenwood, Manish Dayal, Emily VanCamp, Shaunette Renee Wilson, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Jane Leeves and Glenn Morshower & centers on an idealistic young doctor who begins his first day under the supervision of a tough, brilliant senior resident who pulls the curtain back on all of the good and evil in modern day medicine. Lives may be saved or lost, but expectations will always be shattered.
