The Fast and the Furious Franchise To Conclude With Final Two Films

The end has finally arrived for one of the most profitable franchises of this generation. As first reported by Deadline, Universal Pictures is planning to conclude the main Fast and the Furious franchise with two more films, and the studio is currently in talks with Justin Lin to direct those final installments of the long-running series.

While it had been rumored that the franchise would conclude with 10 films, Vin Diesel stated earlier this year that the final film could arrive in two parts.

“I started planning for Fast 10 before we started filming Fast 9. Very much so,”

“The universe is so robust and so rich with talent and rich with story that, on one level, it’s totally feasible to have spinoffs, and I think that’s something that is inevitable. Universal deserves it because of how much they’ve invested in this little saga, and it’d be good to give back to Universal. And for the fans, should Fast 10 parts one and two be the conclusion, it would be nice for this world to continue for generations to come.”

As someone who is not a huge fan of the franchise, it will be interesting to see where the franchise goes in its final two installments. F9 will hit theaters on May 28, 2021.
