Life Sentence has struggled in the ratings since it premiered a few weeks ago on The CW and now it’s being shipped to a night to basically die.
After Life Sentence hit another Live+same day low last week, the CW has decided to move the dramedy to Fridays, a move the network also recently applied to Life Sentence‘s predecessor in the post-Riverdale Wednesday 9 PM slot, Dynasty.
The Originals, originally slated to return on April 20 and air its final season on Fridays, will now open its final chapter on April 18 and will take over the Wednesday 9 PM slot following Riverdale‘s musical episode.
The Lucy Hale-starring dramedy, which has done ok in delayed viewing and on-demand but has struggled mightily in linear ratings, recently hitting a 0.1 in 18-49 (Live+same day), will air one more episode on Wednesday on April 4 before shifting to the Friday 9 PM slot on April 27, a week after Jane the Virgin wraps its season on April 20.
The upside is this is a better spot for the final season of The Originals but this doesn’t bode well for the future of Life Sentence. The CW has been known to be generous with low-rated shows but a 0.1 demo score during your first season is even low by their standards.
