The CW Delays New Episodes Of Supergirl & Batwoman Due To COVID-19

Supergirl and Batwoman have become the latest CW series’ to adjust their airing schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The two shows were expected to show new episodes last night but The CW has decided to delay them to a later date that has not been determined yet.

Much like what has been done with The Flash, Supernatural & Legacies, The CW is trying to space out new episodes of both shows because they had to abruptly go dark before completing their current seasons due to the coronavirus. It was already announced that the season 6 finale of The Flash would be delayed and that the show will air its remaining episodes later in 2020. Legacies cut its current season short with episode 16 airing on March 26 as its season finale. Supernatural has two more episodes to shoot for its fifteenth and final season but the show is now on hiatus until The CW can determine how they will tackle a schedule to get its last two episodes prepared and aired.

Supergirl and Batwoman won’t be back for a bit because The CW will be re-airing the crossover event ”Crisis on Infinite Earths” beginning on April 6. It’s feasible that new episodes could return during the second week of April but the network hasn’t made a solid decision on that just yet.

The CW seems to be one of the only networks trying to make the abrupt end to shooting on their shows seem as seamless as possible with what is currently airing on the network. They don’t want to run out of new episodes too early and likely are trying to get most of their shows to air into May. This is honestly a wait and see kind of thing for all the major networks and The CW is no stranger to taking substantial breaks with re-runs so it shouldn’t be too different as they try to navigate the current state off affairs.

Supergirl & Batwoman air Sundays on The CW.
