A Star Is Born Moved To Fall 2018

Moviegoers will have to wait a little longer to see Lady Gaga in the A Star Is Born remake. The film is shifting 5 months from May 18, 2018, to October 5, 2018.

The remake, which is directed by and also stars, Bradley Cooper, was originally supposed to hit screens on September 28, 2018, but was shifted to May 18, 2018. Studio insiders say the latest move is due to studio execs seeing an early cut of the film that made them want to release the film closer to awards season.

In the new movie, Cooper plays Jackson Maine, a country music star on the brink of decline when he discovers a talented unknown named Ally (Gaga). As the two begin a passionate love affair, Jack coaxes Ally into the spotlight, catapulting her to stardom. But as Ally’s career quickly eclipses his own, Jack finds it increasingly hard to handle his fading glory.

On its new release date, it’s competing with the Spider-Man spinoff, Venom, starring Tom Hardy. It should serve as counterprogramming that weekend so it will be interesting to see how its prospects play out.
