Spider-Man: Homecoming Sequel Will Start Minutes After Avengers 4

While we’re still a week away from the release of Spider-Man: Homecoming, reviews are already coming in for the highly anticipated sixth film in the Spider-Man series, but the first under the MCU banner and they are positive.

From Tom Holland being the best Spider-Man to the film being all around fun, it looks like we are in for a treat in 7 short days. However, as today’s society is all about the “what’s next” mentality, we can confirm that what’s next is the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. Producer Amy Pascal told Fandom that the sequel “will start a few minutes after Avengers 4 wraps as a story.”

It will also kick off Phase 4 of the MCU according to Marvel head, Kevin Feige. Speaking to io9, Feige explained that the as-yet-untitled follow-up fourth Avengers movie will mark “the unprecedented conclusion to a 22-movie overarching narrative.” After that, Homecoming 2 (or whatever it turns out to be called), will start the next phase of the MCU.” Feige explained,

“So much happens in [the 3rd and 4th Avengers movies], as you can imagine and so much is affected by it that we felt what better person to hold your hand and lead you into the next incarnation of the MCU, in a grounded, realistic manner, than Peter Parker? So, coming out two months after Untitled Avengers, [that’s what] much of what the next Spider-Man film will be about.”

What makes Phase 4 so important for Marvel and the MCU is that the finale of Phase 3 not only brings with it an ominous comic book history as Infinity War features the death of several major members of the Avengers, but the end of contracts held by many of the MCU’s most iconic actors, including Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth making it a 10 year run as their characters by the film’s end.
