It’s been a few weeks since the passing of Chadwick Boseman. After his death on August 28, many have shared stories related to the late actor. Hence, the latest comes from his 21 Bridges co-star Sienna Miller, who says Boseman took a cut of his own salary and gave it to her after she “asked for a number that the studio wouldn’t get to.”
While speaking with Empire, Miller stated,
“This was a pretty big-budget film, and I know that everybody understands about the pay disparity in Hollywood, but I asked for a number that the studio wouldn’t get to,”
“And because I was hesitant to go back to work and my daughter was starting school and it was an inconvenient time, I said, ‘I’ll do it if I’m compensated in the right way.’ And Chadwick ended up donating some of his salary to get me to the number that I had asked for. He said that that was what I deserved to be paid.”
Originally, the part of Frankie Burns was written as a male. However, the film’s director, Brian Kirk, was open to making some changes that would ultimately make for a better story. When Boseman began lobbying for Miller to appear in the film, changes were made.
