Sequel To Gladiator In Early Stages Of Development With Ridley Scott Returning To Direct

“ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?” We may be ready to hear this phrase again because Gladiator 2 is moving forward & is in the early stages of development.

Director Ridley Scott and his Scott Free Productions are moving forward on a follow-up to his best picture Oscar winner, which will follow Lucius (the son of Lucilla and the nephew of Joaquin Phoenix’s Commodus). In the 2000 movie, Russell Crowe’s Maximus saved the boy from his uncle.

Paramount Pictures is currently in negotiations to land the project but it was DreamWorks that brought the first film to audiences where it earned five Oscars and pulled in $460 million at the global box office. Peter Craig, whose credits include The Town and two Hunger Games films, as well as 12 Strong and the upcoming Top Gun: Maverick, is set to write the script for the sequel.
