We finally get to see how Scooby met Shaggy in the first trailer for Scoob!, an origin story of sorts that’s set to hit screens next summer.
Your Scooby-Doo favorites have a bit of an updated look but they’ll prove to be very recognizable to those familiar with the 70s animated series. The trailer showcases that the characters will be featured in a 21st-century story while flashing back to how Scooby and Shaggy met, Here is the official plot synopsis from Warner Bros.:
“Scoob!” reveals how lifelong friends Scooby and Shaggy first met and how they joined with young detectives Fred, Velma and Daphne to form the famous Mystery Inc. Now, with hundreds of cases solved and adventures shared, Scooby and the gang face their biggest, most challenging mystery ever: a plot to unleash the ghost dog Cerberus upon the world. As they race to stop this global ‘dogpocalypse,’ the gang discovers that Scooby has a secret legacy and an epic destiny greater than anyone imagined.”
The film includes the vocal talent of Kiersey Clemons as Dee Dee; Zac Efron as Fred; Will Forte as Shaggy; Jason Isaacs as Dick Dastardly; Ken Jeong as Dynomutt; Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman; Gina Rodriguez as Velma; Amanda Seyfried as Daphne; Mark Wahlberg as Blue Falcon; and Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo.
