It looks like fans missed Empire and Star during their long break because they returned with numbers that were higher than their last airings for their fall finales.
On FOX, Empire delivered a 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 and 6.14 million viewers, the best mark of the night and up 0.1 from its fall finale. Star rose two-tenths of a point to a 1.5 demo rating and 4.70 million viewers, helping FOX lead the night in the 18-49 demographic.
On ABC, Alex, Inc. premiered to a 1.1 demo score and 4.59 million viewers, on par with the season average for Speechless in the same time period. The Goldbergs (1.4, 5.44 million viewers) and Modern Family (1.4, 5.35 million viewers) were down 0.1 and 0.2 from last week’s fast nationals (both adjusted up in the finals), and Designated Survivor matched last week’s 0.7 demo score and 3.84 million viewers.
On CBS, The recently renewed SEAL Team (1.0, 6.54 million viewers) was even with last week, and Criminal Minds rose two tenths to a 1.1 demo rating and 6.51 million viewers, its best outing since October.
On The CW, Riverdale hit a season-low 0.3 demo score and 980,000 viewers (its first time below 1 million total viewers this season) and Life Sentence dipped to a 0.1 demo score and 420,000 viewers.
