Reel TV Ratings: (Tuesday) – World Series Game One Down From 2016, Other Networks Relatively Steady

Game 1 of the World Series gave FOX a ratings win Tuesday night, but it was down a good amount from last year’s opening game.

The Los Angeles Dodgers’ 3-1 win over the Houston Astros scored a 10.2 household rating in overnight metered markets, down 19 percent from last year’s opener (which was juiced by the appearance of the Chicago Cubs seeking their first title since 1908). It was on par, however, with Game 1 from 2015. The World Series airing on FOX put Lethal Weapon, The Mick & Brooklyn Nine-Nine on hiatus.

The other networks suffered minor drops here and there but were mostly steady opposite the game. This Is Us (2.7 in adults 18-49, 10.47 million viewers) was off 0.1 from last week’s early rating but still led the night’s non-sports shows by a big margin. Also on NBC, Law & Order True Crime (1.1, 4.81 million viewers) was even with last week’s early number (it adjusted down in the finals).

NCIS (1.4, 13.09 million viewers), Bull (1.2, 10.64 million viewers)” and NCIS: New Orleans (1.1, 9.49 million viewers) all equaled last week’s ratings for CBS, as did The Middle (1.3, 5.79 million viewers), Black-ish (1.1, 3.98 million viewers)  and The Mayor  (0.8, 2.96 million viewers) ABC. Fresh Off the Boat (1.0, 4.20 million viewers) slipped a tenth, and Kevin (Probably) Saves the World (0.6, 2.87 million viewers) dropped two tenths.

The Flash rose 0.1 to a 1.0 demo rating and 2.57 million viewers for The CW, and Legends of Tomorrow held steady at a 0.5 demo score and 1.47 million viewers.

Can your Tuesday shows hold these steady numbers next week? Will there be more slight dips? Check back next Wednesday for the Tuesday ratings recap.
