Reel TV Ratings: (Thursday) – Scandal & HTGAWM Crossover Gives Boost To Both Shows

The forces of Scandal & How To Get Away With Murder came together for a much hyped crossover & it paid off well for ABC.

The ABC series were two of only three shows Thursday to improve on their last new episodes. Scandal scored a 1.2 rating in adults 18-49 & 5.13 million viewers, up from the 1.1 for its last outing. How to Get Away rose three tenths of a point to a 1.1 demo score & 4.20 million viewers. It tied Chicago Fire ( 1.1, 5.62 million viewers)— the other show that was up — for the lead at 10 p.m. HTGAWM tied its season high in adults 18-49 and had its biggest total audience of 2017-18. Grey’s Anatomy began the night for ABC with a 2.0 demo rating & 7.53 million viewers. The series was steady week to week.

On CBS, Mom (1.5, 9.01 million viewers) was even with its last episode. The Big Bang Theory (2.5, -0.4, 13.64 million viewers), Young Sheldon (2.1, -0.2, 12.43 million viewers), Life in Pieces (1.1, -0.1, 6.54 million viewers)  and SWAT (0.9, -0.1, 5.32 million viewers) all dipped.

FOX & The CW had steady nights with Gotham returning from its break even with a 0.8 demo rating & 2.60 million viewers for FOX while Arrow (0.4, 1.18 million viewers) & Supernatural (0.6, 1.63 million viewers) also matched their last numbers for The CW.

On NBC, the comedies took a bit of a hit for the network. Superstore (1.0, 3.53 million viewers) and Will & Grace (1.1, 4.10 million viewers) were both off a tenth from their last pre-Olympics installments. Two episodes of AP Bio drew a 0.8 demo rating & 2.72 million viewers and a 0.7 demo score & 2.81 million viewers, in line with its 0.8 debut a month ago but down considerably from the 1.4 for its post-Olympics airing Sunday.
