Reel TV Ratings: (Tuesday) – Rise Has Decent Start On NBC

NBC aired the series premiere of Rise last night and the show is off to a decent start for its first airing.

The new series debuted to a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49 and 5.69 million viewers, in line with Chicago Med’s average in the 10 p.m. spot. This Is Us aired before and closed its season at the top of the 18-49 ratings, per usual, but its 2.7 was down from a 3.4 for last season’s finale. In total viewers, the series hit 10.85 million viewers and was up week to week in that field and in the demo. The finale was also on par with its season average (minus the Super Bowl Sunday episode).

The night’s other premiere, For the People on ABC, earned a 0.8 demo rating and 3.25 million viewers, a little better than the 0.7 average for Kevin (Probably) Saves the World in the same timeslot. That being said, this is a Shonda Rhimes series and expectations were a bit higher for its start. Reviews have been good though so we will have to watch its performance in the weeks ahead. The Middle (1.1, 4.78 million viewers), Fresh Off the Boat (0.9, 3.10 million viewers) and Black-ish (0.9 and 0.8, 2.99 & 2.84 million viewers) were all on the low side of their usual numbers.

On The CW, The Flash (0.7, 2.07 million viewers) and Black Lightning (0.5, 1.48 million viewers) were both steady week to week fo the network. Also staying steady on CBS was NCIS (1.4, 13.07 million viewers) as well as FOX’s comedies LA to Vegas (0.7, 2.10 million viewers) and The Mick (0.6, 1.84 million viewers).

In other CBS news, Bull was off a tenth at a 1.1 demo rating and 10.59 million viewers while NCIS: New Orleans ticked up to a 1.0 demo rating and 9.19 million viewers.
