Thursday night programming saw some declines but it was a healthier night for week 2 when compared to Wednesday night.
Scandal opened its final season Thursday to lower ratings than last season’s debut. The show’s 1.4 rating among adults 18-49 & 5.55 million viewers was down from a 2.0 for its Season 6 premiere in January but even with last season’s average. ABC’s other shows were off a bit from premiere week. Grey’s Anatomy (2.0, 7.90 million viewers) fell 0.3 from last week but tied Will & Grace as the night’s top scripted show. How to Get Away with Murder (0.9, 3.90 million viewers) was a series low for the show.
NBC’s shows mostly dipped vs. a week ago as well, with Will & Grace taking the biggest hit. Its 2.0 & 7.04 million viewers was down a full point from last week’s premiere. That being said, it’s still a strong showing for any comedy on any network. Superstore (1.2, 4.45 million viewers was down -0.1), The Good Place (1.2, 4.16 million viewers was down-0.2), Great News (1.0, 3.80 million viewers was down -0.3) and Chicago Fire (1.2, 6.05 million viewers was down -0.3).
At FOX, Gotham matched last week’s 0.9 demo rating and 2.84 million viewers, but The Orville fell two tenths of a point to a 0.9 demo score and 3.44 million viewers.
