Reel TV Ratings: (Monday) – The “Shocking” Twist On The Bachelor Season Finale Leads To A Season High

It appears that ABC was smart to heavily promote the shocking end of the season finale of The Bachelor because it lead to some solid ratings in the 18-49 demo.

The three-hour finale drew a 2.2 rating in adults 18-49 & 7.84 million viewers, up 0.4 vs. last week and half a point better than the show’s season average. It was also, however, half a point behind last year’s finale. Despite the decline year to year, it’s still solid for the network and it held nicely against The Voice (2.5, 11.46 million viewers) which beat it in the demo but not by much.

On NBC, Good Girls (1.3, 5.42 million viewers) dipped two tenths from its debut but had pretty good retention given the heavier Bachelor competition. Might be too early to call, but I think NBC may slide this an early renewal soon if the numbers hold around this level.

On FOX, The Resident rose a tenth to a 0.9 demo rating and 4.03 million viewers. The show rose two tenths from its lead-in Lucifer which ticked down to a 0.7 demo score and 3.12 million viewers. The Resident hasn’t been a through the roof ratings hit but it outperforming its lead-in is promising and I think FOX might give it another shot next season and pair it with a more compatible show.

On CBS, Living Biblically (0.7, 4.42 million viewers) was down a tenth in its second week; Superior Donuts” (0.8, -0.1, 5.11 million viewers) also declined, while Kevin Can Wait (1.1, +0.1, 6.29 million viewers) improved a bit and Man with a Plan (1.0, 5.87 million viewers) and Scorpion (0.8, 5,46 million viewers) held steady.

On The CW, iZombie dropped a tenth to a 0.2 demo rating and 777,000 viewers in its second week on while Legends of Tomorrow matched last week’s 0.4 demo score and 1.19 million viewers.
