Ralph Breaks The Internet Three-Peats At Number One On Another Slow Weekend At The Box Office

Ralph Breaks the Internet spent a third weekend at the top of the box office due to another slow period at multiplexes that will pick up this weekend as the major December releases jump into the fray.

Ralph Breaks the Internet grossed an estimated $16.1 million over the weekend and dropped an encouraging 36.9%. The film has grossed $140.8 million at the domestic box office and should continue to benefit from the gift of the December box office inflating just about any film as we head into the new year. Internationally, Ralph added $18 million for a worldwide gross that currently totals $258.2 million. This weekend the film debuted in Spain with an estimated $4.6 million while China remains the feature’s top market with $38.5 million so far.

Following close behind in second is The Grinch with an estimated $15.1 million. The film dropped a slim 15.4% and it continues to benefit from the holiday season being in full swing. The Grinch has more time to make money before Christmas so look out for more decent holds to come. The Grinch has grossed $223.4 million at the domestic box office and it
added nine markets this weekend including Mexico where it debuted with an estimated $5.2 million. Overall, the film brought in $25.9 million from overseas markets this weekend for an international gross totaling $98.9 million and a global tally reaching $322.4 million.

Maintaining the third place position is Creed II with an estimated $10.3 million. The film dropped 38% and brings its domestic total to $96.4 million. Internationally, the film added an estimated $5.2 million from 31 overseas markets, bringing the overseas running total to $23.2 million. The film’s top market remains the UK with $8.9 million.

Landing in fourth is Fantastic Beats: The Crimes of Grindelwald with an estimated $6.8 million. The film has grossed $145.2 million at the domestic box office to date and it’s trailing significantly behind the pace of the original film. The saving grace is the film is still strong overseas where it brought in $22 million over the weekend for a global gross that now totals $568.5 million.

Rounding out the top five once again is Bohemian Rhapsody which grossed an estimated $6 million. The film dropped 25.1% and likely was boosted a bit by the two Golden Globe nominations it earned earlier in the week. The film has grossed $173.5 million at the domestic box office and also continued its scorching performance overseas with an estimated $29.2 million this weekend for an international gross totaling $423 million and a worldwide tally that is now just $3.5 million shy of $600 million.
