Pixar’s Soul Shifts From June To November Due To COVID-19

Pixar has finally decided to put Soul on the move. It has been announced that the film will now release in November as it vacates its June release date.

Originally slated for June 19, the film will now open November 20, the Thanksgiving holiday period where Disney’s animated feature Raya and the Last Dragon was originally scheduled to open. That film will now move to March 12, 2021.

With Soul moving, it becomes the last major June release to shift its date. As of now, what’s left of the summer movie season begins with the Untitled Purge film on July 10 with the biggest opening being Christopher Nolan’s Tenet on July 17 and Mulan on July 24. There are smaller tier releases still dated for June 19 with Fatale and The King of Staten Island remaining unmoved as of this writing.

It’s interesting that Disney didn’t announce this move when it set new dates for its Phase 4 MCU films and the move of Mulan to July 24. They also announced Artemis Fowl would move to Disney+ when they made their bulk of announcements but there is still no new date set for The New Mutants. Disney must still be mulling over their options as they look toward their future schedule.
