Paul Rudd Was Asked To Come Back As Tommy Doyle In Halloween Kills

We are only a few months away from the release of David Gordon Green’s Halloween Kills and as the anticipation continues to grow for the film, a bit of casting news has hit the interwebs. As many are aware, Paul Rudd played Tommy Doyle in 1995’s Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers. The film was Rudd’s first screen credit although Clueless was released first.

During an interview with Anthony Michael Hall and David Gordon Green for Total Film, Green admitted he approached Rudd for the role because they previously worked together on Prince Avalanche. Green added that that scheduling prohibited what he called a “novelty” idea but Rudd did give Anthony Michael Hall his blessing.

Anthony Michael Hall added,

“A couple of weeks into production David called me and said he had just spoken to Paul Rudd. I admire Paul’s work a lot, so he gave me his blessing on the film, which was nice of him to do. But my take on the character is quite separate.”

It would have been interesting to see what Rudd’s Tommy would have been able to do in this reincarnation of the popular franchise.
