The Parents Television Council Blasts “Brutally Explicit” Premiere of The Walking Dead

Apparently The Parents Television Council just discovered what The Walking Dead is actually about because they are condemning last night’s season premiere.

“Last night’s season premiere of The Walking Dead was one of the most graphically violent shows we’ve ever seen on television, comparable to the most violent of programs found on premium cable networks,” PTC president Tim Winter said. “It’s not enough to ‘change the channel,’ as some people like to advocate, because cable subscribers — regardless of whether they want AMC or watch its programming — are still forced to subsidize violent content. This brutally explicit show is a powerful demonstration of why families should have greater control over the TV networks they purchase from their cable and satellite providers.”

The episode featured the deaths of two  characters being beaten to death by a guy with a baseball bat covered with barbed wire. They felt so strongly about their distaste for the episode they think networks need  a rating that goes beyond the explicit TV-MA rating.

Guess they didn’t realize they were watching a show about a zombie apocalypse. Go figure?
