Paramount Pictures Revisiting Paranormal Activity Franchise With Blumhouse

Not sure if this is something we need or want but Paramount Pictures has announced that they are revisiting the Paranormal Activity franchise with Blumhouse.

The news was announced during the Paramount Pictures showcase at CineEurope. Studio Chairman and CEO Jim Gianopulos had this to say during the event:

“We are partnering with uber horror producer Jason Blum to bring a new installment of Paranormal Activity.”

It was a short and sweet statement and honestly not even a surprise even though the franchise started to see diminishing returns. The film would be the seventh in the nearly $900 million worldwide grossing series that is known for its microbudgets. The last film in the franchise was 2015’s Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension. Paramount first teamed with Blum on the initial microbudget phenomenon in 2009 which went on to gross over $190 million worldwide.

The new film is currently in development and, as of yet, there is no title, and details are being kept under wraps.
