Noah Centineo is in talks to make a pretty big jump to the big screen. After gaining recognition for his roles in the Netflix film To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and Freeform’s The Fosters, the actor is in talks to take on the lead role of He-Man in Masters of the Universe.
The film is based on the bestselling toy line from the 1980s that spawned an animated TV show and a 1987 feature with Dolph Lundgren as He-Man. Adam and Aaron Nee are attached to direct the movie and are writing the script with Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.
I will address the elephant in the room and say that Centineo really doesn’t look the part of what He-Man traditionally is but if the actor throws on some muscle, maybe he’ll be capable for handling the part. I’m not so caught up on him not being a blonde because this could be a fresh take on the character or he could easily get a dye job. This isn’t a name that would immediately jump out to take on this part but perhaps Sony and Mattel Films know something we don’t.
Masters of the Universe is slated for a December 2020 release and Centineo recently began production on Netflix’s TATBILB sequel and is set to appear later this year in Sony’s Charlie’s Angels reboot.
