Nicholas Hoult, Glen Powell & Miles Teller Frontrunners For Role In Top Gun: Maverick

Top Gun: Maverick is looking to add some young talent to join Tom Cruise & Val Kilmer & it looks like three actors are in the running to join the sequel.

The highly coveted role for the young men of Hollywood this time around is the son of Maverick’s wingman and best pal, Goose. Played by Anthony Edwards in the Tony Scott-directed original, the character provided an emotional component to the movie when he is killed by accident and Maverick blames himself.

The three actors up for the role are Nicholas Hoult, Glen Powell, & Miles Teller. Apparently, the director & producers have been meeting with several actors over the last several weeks, including Dylan O’Brien & Austin Butler, but the list has dwindled to the three aforementioned actors. It’s being reported that the three actors tested earlier this week in Clearwater, Fla., where Tom Cruise lives and is prepping to launch his press tour for Mission: Impossible – Fallout. There is no current word on who the frontrunner is at this point.

Nicholas Hoult played Beast in three X-Men movies as well as had a role in Mad Max: Fury Road & Rebel in the Rye. Glen Powell currently stars in Set It Up, Netflix’s surprise hit romantic comedy that also stars Zoey Deutch. He played astronaut John Glenn in Hidden Figures and appeared in Fox’s Scream Queens. Miles Teller, arguably the biggest name of the three, has appeared in Whiplash & recently, Only The Brave.
