Neve Campbell Has Had Discussions About New Scream Film

We may not have seen the last of Sydney Prescott! It has been revealed, from Neve Campbell herself, that she has had conversations about returning for Scream 5.

It was confirmed earlier this year that a new Scream was moving forward with Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett at the helm. At the time we couldn’t tell if it was a reboot or a sequel but judging from Campbell’s recent comments, it may be carrying on the legacy of the current franchise. Here is what she had to say during her guest spot of Jake Hamilton’s YouTube show:

“They’ve come to me and we’re having conversations. It’s a little hard at the moment because of the situation to know when that’ll happen & hopefully we can see eye to eye on all the elements that have to come into place for it to happen.”

This is pretty good news for Scream fans because Campbell seems open to returning if the stars align. Horror legend Wes Craven directed all four of the original movies which grossed a combined $603 million at the global box office. It makes the Scream franchise one of the most financially successful horror franchises in history while the original film was a game-changer for the genre when it was released in 1996. Wes Craven sadly passed away in 2015 & Campbell expressed reservations to return to the franchise without Craven but the new directing duo hopes to honor the horror legend with their take which has opened her up to the idea:

“I originally had been really apprehensive about doing another Scream without Wes because he was such a genius and he is the reason they are what they are but the directors have come to me with such a great appreciation for Wes’s work & they really want to honor it and that meant a lot to me. Hopefully we’ll be able to do it.”

Please make this happen & I won’t be greedy & ask for David Arquette or Courteney Cox to return as well (although they would be awesome too). Ready or Not was in my top ten releases of the year last year so this has renewed my interest in seeing how this all turns out.
