Netflix Acquires The Rights For ‘Tramps’

Following its debut at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, Netflix has bought Adam Leon’s romantic comedy, Tramps.

The film, which is the sophomore feature of Adam Leon, follows a bagman, who picks up the wrong briefcase in a drop gone wrong, and later falls in love with the driver. Leon first attracted attention with 2012’s Gimme the Loot.

There were other studios circling Tramps, particularly A24 and The Orchard, although there were concerns that without big stars, its commercial prospects would be diminished. The pickup caps off a busy few weeks for Netflix which picked up Barry, a look at the early days of President Barack Obama, and What Happened to Monday?, a sci-fi thriller starring Noomi Rapace.
