Gambit to Shoot in 2017

Marvel’s Gambit film is expected to start filming early spring of next year according to writer and producer Simon Kinberg. Kinberg recently confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly. Channing Tatum is set to play the titular character. Gambit was originally supposed to be released this fall, but got pushed by 20th Century Fox to a later date.

This isn’t the first time the film has been moved. Given the new date, original director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) exited the project and Tatum almost walked away over salary issues. Let’s hope nothing else plagues the film and it stays on schedule.

Gambit is a favorite character among many fans. Gambit, whose real name is Remy LeBeau, is a reformed thief who teams up with the X-Men. He is known for his Cajun drawl and smooth-talking way with women. His mutant ability allows to him charge objects with kinetic energy, thus making them explode on contact. His trademark weapon is a deck of playing cards, which he can throw with deadly accuracy.
