Miramax Lands U.S. Distribution rights for I, Tonya Starring Margot Robbie

Miramax is moving forward with I, Tonya, a film about disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding which has Margot Robbie attached to star.

Deadline revealed in May that Margot Robbie was circling the project and it would appear the film has picked up steam since then. Craig Gillespie is attached to direct.

Robbie spoke about the project saying “the script is unbelievable, it’s unlike anything I’ve read before and I know Craig’s approach with the material and the characters will be executed brilliantly. Tom and I at LuckyChap are so grateful to partner with Bryan for what will hopefully be the first of many jobs together.”

Clubhouse Pictures’ Bryan Unkeless, LuckyChap’s Robbie and Tom Ackerly, and Rogers are producing, while AI’s Len Blavatnik and Aviv Giladi are exec producers. UTA Independent Film Group and CAA brokered the deal. Miramax head of film &TV Zanne Devine spearheaded it for the distributor and Rosanne Korenberg is overseeing the film for Miramax.
