Meryl Streep Set to Star Alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Ari Aster’s Disappointment Blvd

A rumor floating around the cast of Ari Aster’s next film has been more or less confirmed. according to DeuxMoi and a source from MTL Production and reported by Gold Derby, 3 time Academy Award winner, Meryl Streep has joined Academy Award winner Joaquin Phoenix in Ari Aster’s upcoming Disappointment Boulevard.

Aster will start filming the film in Montreal on June 28th and will be reteaming with A24 for this new project.  Described as a “surrealist horror film set in an alternate present,” Phoenix’s character would play an “extremely anxious but pleasant-looking man who has a fraught relationship with his overbearing mother and never knew his father.” When his mother dies, he makes a journey home that involves some wild supernatural threats.

No release date has yet to be announced for Disappointment Boulevard, but would not surprise me if this falls under the 2022 release calendar.
