Men In Black’s Rip Torn Has Died

Rip Torn, whose long career was highlighted by his brilliant turn as Artie the producer on HBO’s The Larry Sanders Show, and his portrayal as Zed in the popular Men In Black franchise has died on Tuesday. The actor was was 88.

Torn, who throughout his career  was nominated for an Oscar for portraying the father Marsh opposite Mary Steenburgen in 1984’s Cross Creek, died peacefully at his home in Lakeville, Connecticut. The announcement of his death was made by his publicist.

It was also revealed that his wife, Amy Wright and his daughters, Katie and Angelica, were by his side at the time of his death.

Torn is also survived by his sister, Patricia, and his grandchildren Elijah, Tana, Emeris and Hannah.
