Mads Mikkelsen Officially Replaces Johnny Depp In Fantastic Beasts 3

After starting talks soon after Johnny Depp was asked to step down from the role of Gellert Grindelwald, Mads Mikkelsen has officially signed on to take the role in Fantastic Beasts 3.

Warner Bros. confirmed the news  & it appears he was always the top choice to replace Depp. Particularly director David Yates really wanted Mikkelsen to take on the role & now he has gotten his wish. Johnny Depp, who had played the role in the first two installments, exited after losing a major libel suit in the UK where a magazine labeled him a wife beater in a story about alleged abuse against his then-wife, actress Amber Heard. The latest movie in the series is in production at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden outside of London.

After Depp’s departure, the studio set a new release date of July 15, 2022 to accommodate replacing Depp
