MacGyver Renewed For Season 4 By CBS

Despite being somewhat on the bubble, MacGyver will be returning for a fourth season.

The show isn’t exactly a hit with critics but CBS’ reboot is pretty reliable in its 8 PM Friday time period, drawing 7.8 million viewers. The series does lag behind its Friday night neighbors, Hawaii Five-0 & Blue Bloods, but it’s owned by CBS TV Studios and has a presence in a number of international markets given its instant name recognition.

The series lost its co-star George Eads as he expressed interest to leave for various reasons and due to conflicts on set. Levy Tran was brought in as a recurring character this season to fill that void and it was announced today that Tran is being bumped up to series regular next season. The show is also getting a new showrunner, which should infuse some new energy into the reboot of 1985 series.

The series is led by Lucas Till and co-stars Tristin Mays, Justin Hires, Meredith Eaton, Reign Edwards,  & Tate Donovan.
