Leonardo DiCaprio to Play Namesake Leonardo da Vinci in Paramount Film

Paramount has won the film rights to Water Isaacson’s upcoming biography on the life of Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo DiCaprio will star in their planned biopic. They beat out Universal studios in with a seven figure bid for the project. DiCaprio will also produce through his Appian Way banner. ICM Partners is responsible for securing the deal for Isaacson and his book well in advance of its release on October 17, 2017.

It’s lore that DiCaprio’s mother named the actor after she felt him kick for the first time in utero while examing a da Vinci painting at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence in 1974.

I can imagine this will definitely be an Oscar player once it’s released. Isaacson is a New York Times Best Selling author who has written biographies on other notable thinkers such as Albert Einstein, Henry Kissinger, Steve Jobs, and Benjamin Franklin.
