Lemony Snicket’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix

Netflix is staying in the business of experiencing unfortunate events. The streaming platform has renewed Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events for a second season.

The pickup comes exactly two months after the eight-episode first season of the adaptation debuted in January. The Netflix-produced series is written by Daniel Handler, who exec produces with Barry Sonnenfeld.

Neil Patrick Harris headlines the adaptation as Count Olaf, the evil guardian of the Baudelaire orphans — Violet, Klaus and Sunny — who will stop at nothing to get his hands on their inheritance. As the children manage to evade Count Olaf’s scheming attempts to steal their fortune, they begin to pick up clues about their parents’ past. However, Count Olaf is determined to get what he wants.

The series joins Netflix’s ever-expanding roster of original dramas including House of Cards, Orange Is the New Black, Stranger Things, The OA, Narcos, The Crown, Sense8 and the upcoming third and final season of Bloodline.
