Despite the not so positive reviews so far for Suicide Squad, it has not stopped the film from breaking records. The film earned $20.5 million at Thursday night preview screenings, outpacing the $11.2 million that Guardians of the Galaxy earned in its previous record-breaking weekend a few years back. The latest entry in DC’s extended universe easily took the record for the best Thursday night haul ever in August, and is on pace to top the $94 million August opening weekend record, which also belongs to Guardians.
