Legally Blonde 3 In The Works At MGM

Get ready to do your best bend and snap again! MGM is very close to a deal with Reese Witherspoon to reprise her role as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde 3 and they’re also bringing back most of the creative team from the original film.

Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Karen McCullah, who adapted the Amanda Brown novel for the first film, are in final talks to write the script and original producer, Marc Platt, is also on board behind the scenes. The final step is to secure the first film’s director, Robert Luketic.

The first film was released 17 years ago and grossed $141 million worldwide on an $18 million budget. The 2003 sequel, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, grossed $124 million worldwide on a $45 million budget. The franchise also spawned a hit musical.

The plot is being kept under wraps but what is known is that it will be much in the spirit of the first film and that’s why it was important to get the full creative team back for this third outing.
