Colin Firth may be joining Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda in Disney’s upcoming Mary Poppins Returns. The sequel to the beloved 1964 children’s classic is set to take place 25 years after the original where Michael and Jane Banks (Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer) are all grown up. They receive an unexpected visit from their former magical nanny.
If casting and contract talks confirm, Firth will play William Weatherall Wilkins, the president of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank. Streep will star as Poppins’ cousin. The film will be directed by Rob Marshall and produced by Marshall, John DeLuca, and Marc Platt.
Mary Poppins Returns will hit theaters on Dec. 25, 2018.
