Last Man Standing To End With Season 9 At Fox

Tim Allen & the cast of Last Man Standing return to Fox in January but it has been announced that the upcoming ninth season will be its last. Cast & crew returned to start filming on the comedy series this week. Series star, Tim Allen, had this to say about the show ending its run:

“I’ve been one lucky dude to have been part of Last Man Standing. I so appreciate the incredible support from our fans over this near decade of work. As we approach the ninth season, I just admire and feel grateful for all the hard work our wonderful cast and crew have done. We had all considered to end the show after last season, but together with Fox, we decided to add a year so we could produce a full season to create the gentle and fun goodbye. I’m looking forward to a memorable and hilarious final season.”

This will be the third season of Last Man Standing to air on Fox. The show originally ran on ABC for six seasons but was canceled citing increasing costs and the fact that it didn’t own the series, produced by 20th Century Fox TV — which was then under the same corporate umbrella as Fox. The show, despite its cancellation, was the second-highest-rated comedy on ABC after Modern Family & that was even as it aired on Friday nights, a typically dead night for TV. The show continued a successful run on FOX a year after it was canceled by ABC.

Last Man Standing, which also stars Nancy Travis, Hector Elizondo, Christoph Sanders, Amanda Fuller, and Kaitlyn Dever, followed a married father of three that tries to maintain his manliness in a world increasingly dominated by the women in his family.
