Kristen Bell Returning As Narrator For Gossip Girl Update At HBO Max

Hey Upper Eastsiders, Gossip Girl Here, and I have some seriously epic casting deets about our latest Gossip Girl update series on the new streaming service, HBO Max. Kristen Bell, who once gave me a voice on the original CW series, will be returning to dish on the lives on the Upper Eastsides most scandalous elite.

All kidding aside, Kristen Bell was involved in a months-long dealmaking process to return for the new take of the series and finally closed her deal today. Bell will reprise her role as the narrator for the show which will add some continuity between the new series and the original fan favorite that was created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. The duo had this to say about her return:

“Kristen Bell has always been and will always be the voice of Gossip Girl.”

The HBO Max series was picked up straight to series with a 10-episode order back when the streamer was introducing its first slate of potential pickups. The show is described as an extension of the original series that takes place eight years after the original “website” went dark. It follows a new generation of New York private school teens who are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl. The show is set to explore how much social media and the landscape of New York has changed in the years since Gossip Girl was first introduced.

Bell, who is currently starring in the final season of NBC’s The Good Place and is returning as the voice of Elsa in Frozen 2, was the narrator for all six seasons of Gossip Girl, which comprised of 121 episodes. Bell appeared as herself in a very tongue-n-cheek cameo during the series finale of the show.
