Jensen Ackles Joins Season Three Of The Boys

Jensen Ackles is set to join another Eric Kripke show. After an impressive 15 season run on Supernatural, Ackles is joining the cast of The Boys in its third season.

Ackles will be portraying Soldier Boy aka the original superhero in the widely popular streaming hit. After Soldier Boy fought in World War II, he became the first super celebrity and a mainstay of American culture for decades. Kripke had this to say about Ackles casting in a pretty funny statement:

“When I was a child, I had a crazy, impossible dream — to provide Jensen Ackles with gainful employment. I’m happy to say that dream has come true. Jensen is an amazing actor, an even better person, smells like warm chocolate chip cookies, and I consider him a brother. As Soldier Boy, the very first superhero, he’ll bring so much humor, pathos, and danger to the role. I can’t wait to be on set with him again, and bring a bit of ‘Supernatural’ to ‘The Boys.’”

The Boys was renewed for a third season during its Comic-Con@home panel & the news came ahead of its season 2 launch which gets going on September 4. The series is based on the best-selling comic by Garth Ennis & Darick Robertson & it was developed by Eric Kripke for Amazon. As for Ackles, he currently stars on Supernatural, which Kripke created & launched back in 2005 on The WB before the network made the change to The CW. The show was scheduled to wrap its 15 season run in May but the COVID-19 pandemic forced a production shutdown. The series is now on-track to wrap this fall on the network.
